Academic WorldQuest

Since 2010 the Colorado Foothills World Affairs Council has proudly sponsored a local high school competition and sent the winning team to compete in Washington, D.C.  Founded in 2003, the Academic WorldQuest is the World Affairs Councils of America's flagship education program for high school students. It is a fast-paced trivia game in which competing teams of four test their knowledge of international issues and events, geography, history, countries, current events, and more.  The national competition is attended by more than 225 of the nation's most promising students, along with their parents, teachers, and chaperones. The 3-hour competition is a unique opportunity for many students to visit the nation's capital for the first time. There is a weekend of substantive programming to enhance the experience. Examples of past National Competition weekend activities include embassy receptions, speeches by dignitaries, and private viewings of national museums.  Visit worldaffairscouncils.org for more information on the competition.
